Privacy Policy
Effective 23 October 2026 · Last updated 23 October 2026
In short
- Your poems, recordings and reels stay on your phone.
- Only when you use an AI feature is the picture, text or recitation audio for that request sent to the AI service named below, to give you the result. You are asked before the first time.
- Signing in is optional. We do not sell your data, show ads or track you across apps.
- You can delete your account and its data at any time, in the app or at getalfaaz.app/delete-account.
1. Who we are
Alfaaz ("Alfaaz", "we", "us") is an app for turning poetry and quotes into video reels. It is published by [legal entity name], [registered address], trading as Alfaaz. We are responsible for the personal information described in this policy. Contact: support@getalfaaz.app.
This policy covers the Alfaaz apps for Android and iOS, and getalfaaz.app.
2. Information that stays on your device
The words you write or scan, your voice and video recordings, the music you pick from your phone, your drafts and the reels you make are stored on your device. We do not receive them unless you use an online feature described in section 4, or share a reel yourself through another app. If you uninstall Alfaaz, your device deletes them.
3. Information we collect
| Information | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Name, email address, profile picture, account ID | Only if you sign in (with Google, through Firebase Authentication; on iOS also with Apple) | To keep your subscription and allowances with you across devices |
| A device identifier, app version, device model and OS version | When you use online features | To count the free AI allowance per device, prevent abuse of it, and keep the service working |
| Notification token (Firebase Cloud Messaging) | If you allow notifications | To send updates and replies to your support requests |
| Usage counts: number of AI requests, seconds of captioning | When you use AI features | To apply your plan's allowance |
| Subscription status and purchase token | If you subscribe | To give you Alfaaz Creators. Payment details stay with Google Play or the App Store |
| Support messages, reviews and creator applications, with anything you attach | If you send them | To answer you and improve Alfaaz |
| Crash reports: what the app was doing when it crashed, app version, device model and OS version | When the app crashes or hits a serious error | To find and fix bugs (Google Firebase Crashlytics). Not used for ads or to identify you |
| Technical logs (IP address, time, request type, errors) | When your device contacts our servers | Security and fixing problems; kept briefly |
We do not collect your contacts, location, messages, browsing history, or a list of the apps on your phone. We do not use advertising identifiers.
4. AI features and the services they use
Some features send content you choose to an AI service. Alfaaz asks for your permission before the first time, explaining what is sent and to whom. You can use Alfaaz without these features.
| Feature | What is sent | Service | What happens to it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Picture to text | The picture you scan or choose | Our server, then OpenAI (API) | Used to read the words and return them. We do not store the picture. |
| Translation by meaning | The poem's text and the poet's name | Our server, then OpenAI (API) | Used to translate and return the result. We do not store the text beyond the request; in rare cases a short excerpt may appear in error logs, deleted within 30 days. |
| AI captions for a recitation | The sound of your recitation (not the video) and the poem's words | Our server, then our captioning service | Used to time each word to your voice. Deleted after processing, and within 24 hours at most. Never used for training. |
Under OpenAI's API terms, content sent through the API is not used to train its models and is kept by OpenAI for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring, unless the law requires otherwise. We never send your account details to these services. More detail is on how Alfaaz uses AI.
5. Who we share information with
- Service providers who run parts of Alfaaz for us, under contracts that limit their use of it: Google Firebase (sign-in, notifications, crash reports), OpenAI (picture reading, translation), our captioning service, our cloud hosting provider, and our email provider (for replies to you).
- Google Play and the App Store, for purchases and subscriptions.
- Authorities, when the law requires it, or to protect people's safety and rights.
- A new owner, if Alfaaz is sold or merged, with this policy continuing to apply.
We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.
6. Legal bases (EEA, UK and similar laws)
- Contract: to provide the features and subscription you ask for.
- Consent: for AI features and notifications. You can withdraw it at any time in the app.
- Legitimate interests: to keep the service secure, prevent abuse of free allowances, and fix problems.
- Legal obligation: for tax and purchase records.
7. How long we keep it
- Account information: while your account exists; deleted within 30 days of your deletion request.
- Usage counts: for the period they count over (a day or a month), then up to 12 months in totals that do not identify you.
- AI request content: not kept by us beyond the request (see section 4).
- Support messages: up to 24 months after the conversation ends.
- Technical logs: up to 30 days.
- Crash reports: up to 90 days.
- Purchase records: as long as tax law requires.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under the EU and UK GDPR, India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, and California's CCPA/CPRA), you can ask to access, correct, delete or take a copy of your personal information; object to or restrict some uses; and withdraw consent. Write to support@getalfaaz.app; we answer within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
You can delete your account in the app (Settings, then Account, then Delete account) or at getalfaaz.app/delete-account.
9. Security
Information is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and access is limited to people who need it. AI service keys are held only on our servers, never in the app. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you, we will tell you as the law requires.
10. International transfers
Our providers may process information outside your country, including in the United States. Where the law requires, we rely on safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
11. Children
Alfaaz is not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country, such as 16 in parts of the EEA, or 18 for Indian users where parental consent is required). We do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, write to us and we will delete it.
12. Permissions on your phone
- Camera: to record a recitation and to scan a page.
- Microphone: to record your voice, and for voice typing.
- Photos and media: only the pictures, audio and video you choose.
- Notifications: optional.
Each is asked for only when you first use the feature that needs it, and can be turned off in your phone's settings.
13. This website
getalfaaz.app uses no analytics or advertising cookies. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) processes basic request data to deliver and protect the site.
14. Changes
We will update the date above when this policy changes, and tell you in the app before important changes take effect.
15. Contact and grievances
Questions, requests or complaints: support@getalfaaz.app. Grievance officer (India): [name], at the same address.
