Poets and their rights
Shayari, ghazals, nazms and kavita belong to the poets who wrote them. Many classic poets, such as Mirza Ghalib, Mir Taqi Mir, Allama Iqbal and Kabir, are in the public domain in most countries, but most modern and living poets' work is protected by copyright, often for 60 to 70 years after the poet's death depending on the country.
- Share your own words freely.
- Quoting someone else? Make sure you have the right to use it, or that it is in the public domain where you share it. A short quotation with the poet named may be allowed in some places, but not everywhere, and not for all uses.
- Always name the poet. Alfaaz adds the poet's name to your reel when you enter it. Never present another person's verses as your own.
You are responsible for the words, voices, pictures and music in the reels you make and share. Alfaaz does not check or approve your content.
The classics library
The poems in Alfaaz's classics library are included because we believe they are in the public domain, with the poet named. Copyright rules differ by country. If you hold rights in a work in the library, write to support@getalfaaz.app and we will review and remove it if needed.
Translations and Roman spellings
Translations in Alfaaz, whether in the classics library or made by AI, are interpretations of the poem's meaning, not the poet's own words. Poetry carries layers of meaning that any translation can only partly capture, and scholars often read the same sher differently. Roman spellings are a guide to pronunciation, not a scholarly transliteration.
Meaning and belief
Many poems speak of faith, love, longing and the divine, in the language of Sufi, Bhakti and other traditions. Their meanings are offered with respect for the poems and the traditions they come from. They do not represent the views of Alfaaz, and are not religious guidance.
AI output
Picture reading, translation and captions are made with AI and can be wrong. Check them before you share. See how Alfaaz uses AI.
Music
Built-in music in Alfaaz is composed for Alfaaz and licensed for use in reels made with the app. Music you add from your phone is your responsibility: platforms such as Instagram and YouTube may mute or remove reels with music you do not have the rights to.
